Guy Currently works for King's College, London.
Prior to that he was working for Barnet Council, he worked for Lancaster University on the DIRC project (the Dependability Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration www.dirc.org.uk) on Ubiquitous computing and older people that developed a tablet-based software tool to support older people in their own home by enabling them to have informal contact with other older people and friends and family. Prior to this he worked on the European Union 4th Framework project CUSTODIAN (http://www2.rgu.ac.uk/subj/search/research/sustainablehousing/custodian/home.html). CUSTODIAN developed a software tool to design smart homes for older and disabled people.
He is the webmaster of a highly acclaimed educational website called SMART Thinking (www.smartthinking.ukideas.com) and a very successful blog called the Telecare Blog (http://thetelecareblog.blogspot.com). He was also the Co-Chair of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) working group on “Smart Homes and Ambient Assisted Living’ (http://www.health-smarthomes.org/)’ (2006-2009). His academic desires were not lost and this is demonstrated through the fact that he was interviewed for Hometoys Emagazine (www.hometoys.com); acted as a consultant for Barnet Council to Which? magazine (http://www.which.co.uk/advice/long-term-care/long-term-care-assistive-technology/index.jsp), as well as become a member of the expert panel on the ALIP project (http://www.dapforum.org/); the Managing Long Term Conditions Advisory Board (http://www.managinglongtermconditions.com/); the DH Care Networks (Telecare)Telecare Advisory Network (TAN) (http://www.dhcarenetworks.org.uk/IndependentLivingChoices/Telecare/AdviceonTelecare/TelecareAdvisoryNetwork); The London Telecare Group (http://www.londontelecare.com) and have been interviewed by the Guardian and other papers since coming in to post.
